Overview
The Zeegt mine is located in southwestern Mongolia approximately 159 km west of Shinejinst and 245 km northeast of the Burgastai Chinese-Mongolian border crossing. Exploration work within the area has identified 98.0 Mt of JORC 2012 semi-soft coking coal Resources.
Development
- Zeegt Mine hosts 98.0 Mt of JORC 2012 semi-soft coking coal Resources located 159km west of Shinejinst and 413km unpaved road to the Mongolia-China border by Burgastai
- Four mining licenses issued between 1997 and 2013 covering 629 hectares
- Open cut coal mine with local operations
- 174 boreholes drilled for 45,928 metres
Resources & Coal Quality
- Three coal seams have been identified in the Budaakhudag being Zeegt (ZKT), Chandmani (CH) and Khomog (KH) with total coal thickness from 2.1 m to over 37 m
- The Zeegt resource presents as a low-medium volatile bituminous coal according to the ASTM classification. All coal quality is predominantly high CV, low – medium VM, and low – medium ash content and with a low TS value
Future Plans
- Drilling program within the planned pit shell targetting to upgrade resource categorisation and mineable quantities
- Sampling including coal quality and washability testing to confirm coal characteristics and yields
- Update feasibility study to JORC 2012
